editing

today in the lesson we included the title at the end:1962.
we made the colour red and made it so that its written. this would give it more effect and horror. the music will also become louder towards the end so that it would give an impact to the audience.
the background is going to be black so that the title will stand out.
it would be there for a few seconds so that the audience will understand why it is 1962.

sound

today we developed more on the music. zainab thought of the music box so we started looking for the creepy music box sound in the websites. after going into many websites, we finally found one.
we decided to include this towards the end of the clip because it would be more horrific.
we chose to include the music at the exact time as when there is a shot of the sofa and no one is there.
this music will go till the end.

editing

today we began to include the title and the credit sequence.
at first we were thinking of putting the credits to a font and style where it moves to give it a 'horror' effect, but it was quite difficult to do and it was different to what we thought it would be like and so therefore, we stuck to the original, with white writing.
we decided to put the credits as the video was playing. also, we put the names in when the person was talking. for example, when neeri is talking to zainab in the video, we included her name below so that the people would know who is speaking.
also, we thought that by putting the title at the end not the beginning would give it more effect. the writing should be in red so that it would give a more horrific effect.

editing

when people wrote about our clip, we found that the people didn't understand the first part of the running scene.

therefore we decided to change the wood scene in the front into black and white so that people would know that   its a flashback and will foreshadow on what will happen. 

also, we decided to include the time on the bottom left so that people would know that its the past. 

editing

the part when neeri and zainab have the conversation, it only had one shot of them as a midshot. this went throughout the whole conversation. we were unable to meet all together again and reshoot, therefore we decided to crop the parts out. this was done by, cropping it so that the person who is talking is only seen. this makes it look like a close up of her. although it is not perfect and the way we wanted it to be like, we still think it is better than before when there was only one angle from when they were talking.

feedback

brightness

as the whole video was taken in the afternoon, all the shots are very bright.
so we learnt how to change all the scenes darker so that it would look like nighttime.
we had to drag the colour correction file onto the clips we wanted to change.
first we changed the colour to a blue/purple colour so that it would look ghostlike.
then we began to change the brightness etc.
we had to do it individually to all the clips which was difficult to do because it all had to be very similar,
also, in some scenes, it was much brighter from the others because there was more sunlight, so we had to change  those ones more darker than the others.
this worked very well and looks more horrific and effective.

sound

we have now begun to include the sounds. we downloaded them from the free copyright websites. (free copyright horror music).
there were only a few that fitted our scenes. we are still looking for the right music for the running scene in the woods. also we looked for the heavy breathing sounds for when neeri runs in the wood. however it was difficult to find the suitable one so we decided to make it ourselves in garage band.

editing

walking up the stairs. there were many different shots when neeri was going up the stairs. for example, from the back, a low angle, then the side, midway and also from the top of the stairs. when we edited them together we had to take out a few parts when she was going up the stairs because we felt it became too wrong and also, we had to try and make it flow.

wood scene

in todays session we were looking for the horror music we are going to include for the background.
we were told that we are not allowed to use music from youtube, and we can only use free music from google and garage band.
therefore, we are going to find more music on google and create music from garage band

edit

the heartbeat sounds had to work well with the shots we took and also the black out that is shown.
when we put the sound in, it didnt go with the scenes as the beats where in a different pace, therefore we decided to show the shots in the same time as the heartbeat sounds and when it was blackout, there was no sound of the heartbeat.
this worked well because it was more effective and stronger for the audience. we will further develop this.

editing

today we began to include the heartbeat soundtrack in the footage.
the total time for our footage today was 2minutes 7seconds.
we also had to change a few scenes by cutting it or adding another scene.
it was unfortunate that the scene where neeri and zainab talks only had one angle shot of it.
but because we can no longer take more, we decided to put more walking shots of beatrice in between.

editing

feb 2nd. we finised the order of the scenes. there were many parts where we had to delete as we thought that it was too long. 

we also had to sort out the parts where it wasnt what we expected it to be. 

after it was all in order, we then began to do the editing of the effects. (e.g dissolving) 

as it was done in final cut express, it was difficult to use at first. 

as we are showing the first wood scene by using heartbeats, we had to have blackouts between each of the shots of the wood scene. some were shorter or longer than others but I think it works well.

costumes

for the costumes, Neeri and Zainab wore normal modern clothes because we are in the year 2012. but as Beatrice is from the past we first thought it would be suitable if she wore old fashion clothes so that it would be obvious for the audiences.
therefore we decided to let her wear a white gown, and we took the scenes in the woods with her wearing it.
whilst we were taking the scenes in the house, we realised that it would be perculiar is she constantly wore the white gown. so we all decided that it would be best if she wore normal clothes and just show the wood scene at the end.

production company

our group thought that, horror film needs alot of money for it to be produced, therefore this film had to be quite big. at first we thought of it being just a british film and only in Britain, but we realised that bbc or film4 wouldn't accept it as there would be too much money.
overall we decided it should be produced with the US

personal ideas and thoughts

whilst taking these shots we were confident about it. each one of us showed their reviews and told us how we could improve on it more. it was a shame that it was in daylight because its supposed to be dark and mystery like. however, this was the only time where we all could get together. luckily, we are able to change the background colour a little darker so that the atmosphere would look dark. 

also, whilst editing these scenes, we felt that we should have taken more in different angles.

i felt that we could have improved on it more for example, there should have been more blood on the shirt and on the knife. furthermore, the scene where Zainab and Neeri is talking, we should have had some close up shots of them in different angles. 

apart from a few points to improve, I think the group has done a great job and hope that it would be a good opening sequence that the audience would enjoy. 

my inspiration on the opening sequence

I was inspired by Ring and Orphan movie.
The Ring, because of the asian stlye ghost. at the end i want to include a ghost so that it would create a more horrific effect to the audiences.
I was then inspired by the Orphan because at the end there is a huge impact because we find out that she is much older than the age she is shown to be.

Fed the fish evaluation

we tried to include the deeper voice in the shots. the sound track of the deep voice was created in garage band. however, we found it difficult to include it. our video would have been better if we had more shots. as it was our first time taking this, we didn't think about the fact that there should have been more shots even though we werent going to use it. 

it was supposed to show the girl working for a mystery person. the shed is where they share information. it was interesting when taking these shots because whilst taking them, we decided to do other shots and had a better idea.

we made a few changes to the storyboard whilst shooting as some angles didnt seem to work out to what we expected.
for example, we deleted a few parts from the storyboard and made new shots as we went along.
